Diagnosis: Ureteral hernia

Full history:

77 year old man with complaints of back pain.

Radiopharmaceutical:

21 mCi Tc-99m MDP i.v.

Findings:

A low lying left kidney is identified with extra-renal pelvis and possibly caliectasis. There is a left scrotal hernia containing a loop of the left ureter which itself appears to be dilated.

Discussion:

This is an unusual case of a ureter herniating into the scrotum.
